 General Intercessions

Twenty First Sunday of Ordered Time

August 24, 2025

Presider:  God invites us to the bountiful banquet where people from all tribes, nations, and tongues will gather at the Lord’s table. We recognize that God calls us into a community of believers and doers. With confidence in this invitation, we offer our concerns to the Lord

Deacon/ Lector/ Cantor: Please respond: “Lord, Hear our prayer”

1. That Pope Leo, our Bishop _______, and clergy, religious, and laity invite by their welcoming to the banquet all they encounter, we pray...

2. That politicians and diplomats redouble their efforts to serve the common good and resolution of conflicts, making war obsolete, we pray...

3. That EMS, Police, Nurses, Doctors, and Health technicians are alert to clients and uphold their dignity as they serve them, we pray...

4. That teachers and administrators focus on each student and prepare their teaching with creativity and attention for all students, we pray...

5. That persons suffering from domestic violence, economic and sexual abuse have courage to seek help for freedom from domination and discrimination, we pray...

6. That parents budget time and resources to improve family communication, especially at meal time without electronics, we pray...

7. That the elderly may reach out to each other to alleviate loneliness and encourage others to participate in living, we pray...

8. That those who died this week (list here) and those approaching death’s door are encouraged by faith and sacrament. That the intention of this Mass, (list here) _____is (are) remembered in our prayers, we pray...

9. We petition God for our personal needs and for help resolving concerns of hand, mind, and heart: (pause) May each place these intentions on the altar with the financial gifts we offer for ministries to our community, we pray...

Presider: Father, Creator God, help us to long for the Banquet prepared in our daily lives. Inspire us to be aware of those without food and work for ways of providing them with nourishment of body and an invitation to join our Community of care and worship. We ask this in the name of your Son, Jesus, who lives with you in the unity of the Spirit, now and forever.

Response: Amen.
